31 10 05VOSTA LMG signs contracts for over € 50 million
ROTTERDAM 31/10 - At Europort Maritime 2005, on stand 670 in Hall 6 of
the Ahoy Exhibition Center, International engineering & contracting
company VOSTA LMG, active in the global dredging industry, will present
herself to the visitors of the large fair.
VOSTA LMG starts by welcoming visitors to the exhibition at the
entrance. One of the 11 cutterheads ordered by Belgian Dredging
Contractor DEME for the new 38.000 HP seagoing cutter suction dredge
D'Artagnan will be showcased at the entrance of Ahoy Exhibition Center.
The large cutterhead on display is a 6-bladed T6 cutterhead and is part
of the strongest cutting system for dredges ever built. The other
cutterheads in the DEME order are of the type T6 sand/clay, T6
multipurpose, T6 rock and T8 rock. T6 cutterheads have been designed
for dredges with a maximum cutter power of 6000 HP whereas the T8
system can take powers up to 8000 HP. The T8 cutterhead is almost
double as strong as the strongest cutterheads in the early 90's.
VOSTA LMG has a very successful year resulting in an order intake of over € 50 million.
Very recent a contract was signed with Mazagon Dockyard Ltd. in
India for the delivery of an engineering and components package for a
cutter suction dredge with rock cutting capabilities. This dredge will
be the largest cutter suction dregde ever built in India and Mazagon
Dockyard Ltd. plans to deliver her to her owner early 2007.
Also recently VOSTA LMG was selected as main supplier for a
standard VOSTA LMG CSD550 and booster station to Namibian Namdeb
Diamond Corporation. The cutter suction dredge and booster station are
part of an investment plan of Namdeb into mining reserves in the
northern part of their concession. The vessel will be used to dredge
overburden overlaying course gravels which contain the valuable
diamonds. The maximum dredging depth will be 15 meters and the
overburden will be discharged over a pipeline system with a length up
to 2000 m.
A third contract was signed for the turnkey delivery of a
so-called salt mushroom/reef cutter suction dredge to Jordanian Arab
Potash. The cutter suction dredge is of special design as the dredge
will need to excavate hard salt deposits in extremely corrosive and
harsh climatical conditions.
In co-operation with Damen Shipyards an engineering and
components package for a cutter suction dredge CSD650, with a submerged
and booster pump, has been signed for another customer in India.
Furthermore contracts were signed for various VOSTA T cutter- and
cutterteeth systems. Multiple orders for the renewed VOSTA LMG
line of high performance dredge pumps were booked for customers
worldwide and VOSTA LMG also has a healthy order intake for the newly
developed balljoints for floating pipelines.
